Oscars 2024

I wont get to see them in real time, because it’s a work day here, but I thought I’d put my two cents in for who I would like to win some of the Oscars:

This is the easiest one for me. Bradley Cooper hands down.

This is a tough call, because RDJr was fantastic, but I can’t go past Ryan Gosling here. My favourite of all of his performances that I’ve seen

I was all about Carey Mulligan here until I saw Poor Things. Strange movie, but Emma Stone’s performance was sublime. She gets my vote here in a landslide

This is another tough one, but I’m going with America Ferrera. I haven’t seen The Colour Purple, but all the other performances were fantastic 

In the absence of Bradley Cooper, who shouls have been nominated for Maestro, I choose Yorgos Lanthimos for Poor Things

I’m Just Ken. No competition. 

I liked a few of these movies, so this is a hard decision, but I’m going with Maestro. I think it was a masterpiece! Barbie is a close second, but I think Oppenheimer will actually win 

Paris

We arrived in Paris after the three hour train ride from London. To be honest Paris had never been on my travel bucket list, having heard about the dirty, smelly streets, and rude people, but I have to say I ❤️ Paris! The streets are clean and don’t stink, and we have not come across a single rude person. They have all been lovely and accomodating to these bedraggled Australians who don’t speak their language. Also, the city itself is extravagantly beautiful, and I can almost hear it saying “Look at me! Look at me!” like it’s so proud of itself. 

Our first stops on arrival were the Eiffel Tower, then the Musée d’Orsay, followed by the Louvre

We went out wandering a lot, and had a boat ride on the Seine

The traffic here is absolutely insane, and I’m amazed that so many people get around unscathed on the roads every day. Especially the pedestrians, who still have to keep aware of all the drivers who seem to think that the green walking man applies to them too! 

We went to Disneyland too! Much smaller than the original, but still fun! 

On our last night, we headed up to the top of Montparnasse Tower, to watch the sunset over Paris, then went to Moulin Rouge, which was amazing!

The long trip home begins tonight, and I will need a week to get over this past month! I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed 😊

London

 We got into London after dropping off the car and checked into our hotel. I decided that I was going to go for a walk to Harrod’s. It’s quite over the top, and I had to ask someone how to get out! But now I can say I’ve been there 😂

Our first full day we headed off to Warner Bros Harry Potter Studios. It was very cool! 

 The next day we made an attempt to go out and about for the day. We hit up Kensington 

Palace first

Then we went to London Zoo to try to see the sloths. Dad was hidden high up in the trees, and mum and Bub were sleeping inside a log

After we left the zoo, we went for lunch at a place called Taste Film. Bek had booked the tickets when they went on sale, because they’re almost as hard to get as Taylor Swift tickets! The idea is that they serve you the same food at the same time as in the movie. Our movie was Shrek 😂

When lunch was over, we tried to see some more of London, but the heavens opened and torrential rain sent us back to the hotel

This morning we woke to a lovely day. We went out and caught the Uber boat up and down the Thames. We explored the Tower of London, and got to see the Crown Jewels, but no photos allowed in there

We’re off to Paris in the morning for the last leg of our trip
